I think that while no embassy will really refuse injured people that come to their doorstep they may not ‘officially’ accept them. I would like it noted that this list has influenced the course of history. Embassies and Foreign Ministries all around the world have started responding to it and countries like Italy and Austria seem to have possibly even changed their stance.

Neither Norway nor Switzerland are members of the EU. Nor, as far as I know, is Australia. Surprised to not see Canada on the list as yet, though. Do they have an embassy there?

A bunch of Canadians have been calling every number in sight and making good use of government websites to get our government to open the embassy. So far we have confirmation that it will be open for business at 7:30 Sunday morning, but NO confirmation that it will be accepting wounded protesters. I put the original list together, this one is much better formatted and likely more accurate. The original list was compiled purely from twitter.
We tried calling the embassies for confirmation of their actions but the international circuits are completely jammed up.

If you don’t have good information that the address to the Embassy of Finland in Teharan supplied by the Finnish foreign ministry is false (or the address isn’t actually supposed to be that of the embassy), I suggest you remove the two other addresses and just leave the official one.
I’m not familiar with street addressing in Teheran, maybe several addresses can lead to the same place, but according to their web page:
“The new chancery of the Embassy of Finland has moved to new premises in Qeytariyeh in Haddadian 2, Mirzapour St. (prev. Soheil St.), Dr. Shariati Ave., Tehran. Renovation of the premises is still unfinished, which also interferes with the Chancery’s normal operations. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

There is a Mexican Embassy listed there, yet in the official External Affairs Office website ( SRE http://www.sre.gob.mx/ ) there is no listing of a Mexican Embassy in Iran.
You can verify it in this list of Mexican embassies on countries starting with an I http://portal2.sre.gob.mx/dgpac/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46&Itemid=99999999&limit=1&limitstart=7
I have already tried to contact them via email asking whether they have an embassy in Iran or not. As soon as I get a response I will post it here.

Try the office of the Prime Minister and the Foreign Affairs minister while you’re at it. There should be an article in the Toronto Star tomorrow about it. My sources are clear: the embassy will be open on Sunday but no one is sure if protesters will be welcome or not.

As of right now I have no confirmation on that. I am working to get it. I’ve been trying to make sure the mainstream media knew about the list. I have contacted BBC, CNN, and CBS. My hope is that they will make it known. Now I will be checking to verify the level of assistance given at each Embassy. In the meantime it will have to do that they are even providing shelter and protection for the injured. I will get back to you. I can confirm that lines from international callers are at least intermittently jammed. I got people on the phone at the embassies of Sweden, the UK, and Australia. None could hear me, though I tried in several languages. Since people in the US can hear me fine, I suspect interference with the phone system. Do you actually have spoken confirmation from the local embassies that they are taking wounded?

International callers are blocked out, that is confirmed. I have reports from people’s representatives, from some of the embassies themselves, from eye witness accounts of embassy guards taking in injured people, etc. Any additional confirmation is good, so if you get it send it.

I have been in contact with a reporter at a major Swedish newspaper to ask if the Swedish embassy was open for injured. He had been in contact with the Swedish Foreign Ministry and according to them no embassies are doing this. Supposedly, this is some form of misinformation (wishful thinking?) circulating on Twitter.
I don’t know what the truth is, just passing on what he told me in his email.

I called the swiss-US embassy. Basij and army are around it , it’s now impossible to enter. Iranian army repelled the swiss embassy guards who tried to make 20 people enter.

You should precise that the map hasn’t be updated since one hour and that people should call before to go and ask to stop copying it on Twitter. It’s dangerous without updates. For example, if Swiss embassy is really blocked.

The Embassy is between two hospitals and the french have a tradition of hospitality (Khomeiny went into exile in France).
If thwarted in the hospital, I think it’s worth the try.

Having read comments, may I say:
**Embassies are not (officially) supposed to interfere / take sides in the politics of their host country, such is the rules of this diplomacy! But just because an embassy for this reason can not put on their official website a public announcement that they will take in injured protesters, does NOT necessarily mean that they will not help injured people if they turn up on their doorstep!
Should anyone injured in the middle of this mayhem who is asking for help at any embassy be turned away, do let the world know via Twitter etc and you can be sure they will get a lot of people on their back to change their ways!
**Why do you care so much about the nationality of the embassies who will take in injured? Has this last week not showed you that there are descent people from ALL nations who is on your side, who believe ALL people should have the right to choose, to real fair democratic elections.
If someone is on your side, if a fellow human being wants to help you when you need it, what does it matter from where that persons passport is??
I wish the people of Iran much strength & courage in their struggle for real freedom to choose, may it lead to a life in peace & prosperity for you and your country!

Nationality matters because the only government with a responsibility to listen to me is my own. If they’re not doing what Canadians want, it’s our job to hold them accountable. I can’t do that for any government but my own.

i tried contacting the hungarian embassy, but their information is out of date – still, i would try to see what they are doing – they have a history of revolutions against reactionary governments (c.f. 1956) and i think they might be helpful.

About the Canadian Embassy. The Canadian ambassador was expelled a couple years ago for butting heads with Iran. A Canadian Journalist was tortured and killed. Then we rejected the new Iranian ambassador to Canada for links to terrorism. Iran has still not allowed a Canadian Ambassador to take charge.
The last revolution there was the “Canadian Caper” which allowed the Americans to evacuate a large number of their staff.
All of this could be why Canada is not allowing injured in the embassy.

While I too am ashamed at the Canadian Embassy for not coming forward faster, I don’t want to make matters worse by circulating gossip when fact is what is required.

I just got off the phone from a person who answered the phone at 613-996-8885.
Canadian Embassy is currently able to offer aid and assistance to Canadians in Iran but is unable to offer assistance to Iranian citizens at this time.
I tried to give the person with whom I spoke, the url for this blog post but obviously she wasn’t able to take it since she kept steering the conversation every time I tried.
She was pleasant and sympathetic but obviously not a decision maker.
The decision makers need to make a specific decision and explain themselves to Canadians.

I was told the same thing. That they could not provide assistance to Iranian citizens or provide asylum, though I was told “except in extreme cases”.

No, there are reliable reports that they will not, however the embassy is said to have cited the fact that “no other embassy is taking injured”. When they realize this is not the case they may join the bandwagon. I will write a post about it within the hour.

The Liberal press office just now released a statement from Michael Ignatieff on the situation in Iran.
“We mourn each life lost as a result of the Government of Iran’s unjust actions, and share the anguish and outrage of Canadians of Iranian origin at the suppression of peaceful protest and the apparent denial of fully free and fair elections. Canada should join other countries in keeping our embassy open for the humanitarian needs of the people of Iran.

By answering the call for open and transparent elections with a violent disregard for the rights of its citizens, the Iranian government has further alienated itself from the international community. Though these embassies may be ‘open’ do we know for a fact that these are not being blocked by the Basiji?
An embassy’s willingness to accept injured protesters doesn’t mean that protesters have access if Basiji is blocking. It has been widely reported within the last few minutes that all embassies that had been accepting the injured are currently blocked by Basiji.
I would recommend not re-posting on Twitter until that is a certainty, otherwise could be sending injured people in to the jaws of a jackal.

Got an official, confirmed directly from them, reply from the Finnish Embassy saying they can’t take the injured due to the fact that they don’t have the needed doctors and/or resources to help the wounded in the needed ways, and they see it critical that the wounded would get to the hospitals where they can get proper treatment. Which could mean that not all the rumors of the Basij waiting at the hospitals are true?
Because of this reply, I began to doubt the authenticity of this list. Do all of these actually accept the wounded? I’ve only heard rumors of all of them accepting people, and confirmed that one doesn’t. Please DM @ Twitter if you have confirmed info!!!

I think the point is that spread these addresses among protesters so that they be able to know where to go… some training for people in order to how to treat and care with those who got shot is necessary. let people know. also inform doctors who come and help with their expertise to avoid more people die after getting shot.

I just called to some of my friends in Iran to find out whether embassies support is true or not, 2 person who work in diffrent embassies told me that it’s just a rumor! The embassies in Tehran don’t have medical facilities and some of them even aren’t close to the protests either.

I can confirm to you that the CANADIAN embassy is NOT open to the wounded. They are ONLY open to Canadian citizens abroad.

There is a Mexican Embassy listed there, yet in the official External Affairs Office website ( SRE http://www.sre.gob.mx/ ) there is no listing of a Mexican Embassy in Iran.
You can verify it in this list of Mexican embassies on countries starting with an I http://portal2.sre.gob.mx/dgpac/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46&Itemid=99999999&limit=1&limitstart=7
I have already tried to contact them via email asking whether they have an embassy in Iran or not. As soon as I get a response I will post it here.

Tonight the dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Verhagen announced that the Embassy of the Netherlands is open. “We have to realise that the dutch embassy isn’t a hospital, and the possibilities to help are limited. But again, if someone is in need of help then the door will be open.”
