Reports of Shooting in Azadi Square

leave a comment »

There are confirmed reports of shooting in Azadi Square in Tehran. The reports indicate that at least one person was killed. Protesters claim that they fear reprisals from the government after their demonstration today. They feel that they will be attacked when the media is not watching, much like the protests in other major Iranian cities were today. The reports indicate that other Iranian cities faced violent suppression, with pro-Mousavi protesters being chased and beaten. The number of casualties is unknown.

French reports indicate the protest march in Tehran may have exceeded 2 million people. This is unconfirmed as of yet, but the total is greater than 1 million.

Reports that Lebanese Hezbollah are patrolling the streets are believed to have legitimacy by many Iranian people.
